"I grew up in Sparta and have been bowling at Sparta Lanes on and off for many years. Over the last six months, I’ve started coming back every week with my cousins and it’s reminded me why I always enjoyed this place. The prices are very reasonable, the staff is friendly, and the food is excellent… especially for a classic neighborhood bowling alley. It’s clean, welcoming, and always a great time. I highly recommend Sparta Lanes. 10/10!"

"We made it a thai dinner and bowling weekend night out for the group. Great atmosphere with the new lightings. We had so much fun on the lane even though we had a hiccup with our online reservation but Ian smooth it all out for us. Bravo ! P/S: since the connecting Thai restaurant doesnt have liquor license, they allowed you to order from the bowling center and bring to the restaurant. Yay"

"We wanted to take our 8 year old grandsons out for a fun afternoon of bowling and arcade games, finished off with dinner at The Pour House, while they stayed with us for part of their spring break. The day was an utter disappointment. Here's why: 1. When I booked the reservation online, I was given two choices (pictures attached). "Bowl by the hour" and "HyperBowl or Traditional Bowl." We were excited to try the Hyper bowling. About halfway through our game, we realized we weren't in a Hyperbowl lane. My husband went to the desk to inquire and was told by the attendant, "you didn't select hyperbowl." Mind you, I had made the reservation, so all the info was on my phone. So I went to the desk with my digital receipt, showing that I had, indeed, selected the "hyperbowl or traditional bowl" option. The attendant took my phone from me and was scrolling all around, enlarging the screen, taking his sweet time with it. Then he said "that's traditional OR hyperbowl." I said, "of the two options available I selected the only one that mentioned hyperbowl." He said, "It says OR." like I was stupid and interrupting his time on his phone and chatting with co-workers. Realizing I was going to get nowhere with him, I just walked away, thinking maybe I misread or misunderstood something in the description of the hour of bowling I had purchased online. When I looked it up later at home, right there in the description, it stated that the hyperbowl and traditional bowl could both be used during the hour (see photo). 2. While the lanes themselves appeared to be recently refinished, our lane seemed to be uneven. If balls weren't rolled with enough force, they curved to the left evey roll. This made the experience frustrating for the kids. Even after we had them put the bumpers up, if not rolled fast enough, the balls veered to the left every time, bumped the bumper, and inevitably just hit one or two pins. The kids were frustrated and bored. 3. The ball return was faulty. We could see ours, and our neighbors' balls lolling around at the back of the lane for up to 5 minutes. When my husband went to the counter to ask for a fix/help/reset, the same attendant said, "That happens sometimes," and made no effort to correct it. 4. The bowling alley was filthy and in disrepair. I felt like I needed a shower after leaving. Stained ceiling tiles, dust and grime everywhere, frayed carpet, the women's bathroom dirty and old and tired looking, worn lockers with enamel worn away, eeeeew. The whole place was skeevy. 5. We were so disgusted with the condition of the place and the horrible customer service that we didn't even play out our whole hour of bowling. The kids had their hearts set on playing some "arcade" games, so even though my husband and I wanted to get the heck out of there fast, we checked out the tiny, equally filthy game room. There were maybe five games and an air hockey table in there. The first game allowed for two players so the boys wanted to play each other. Except only one seat worked, so my husband had to go get that same desk attendant to come check the game out. Yes, only one side worked. He did, at least, return my husband's buck fifty. The only other game that interested the boys was the air hockey table, so they played two games and we left, opting for dinner at a different restaurant rather than give that business another dime or risk food poisoning eating from what we assumed was a filthy kitchen. Tomorrow, we will take them to the Marcade at the Roxbury Mall, and next time we feel like bowling, we will go down to Circle Bowl in Ledgewood. Sparta Lanes needs a regular cleaning and maintenance crew, some basic maintenance so it doesn't look so old, tired and run down, and employees(?) with an understanding of basic customer service. Unfortunately, we won't be back. I made the boys wash their hands twice with the watered down soap provided (well, it was watered down in the women's room, so I assume it was in the men's room, too, so maybe that's unfair) and then once when we got to the other restaurant. Awful."

"Came here a couple times, most were parties, others just having fun with family. Can say that it is an enjoyable experience and very fun overall. Had a small issue where some of the pins got stuck, but still great overall."
